Smaller Projects
Some smaller projects. Often with the intent to explore interesting topology or models.
A model requested by a friend. Intended for lost PLA casting in aluminium. Not sure if the project ever made it that far.
The Finn-sword from adventure time has a very interesting transition from blade to "guard". I just had to model it to try it out.
The Finn-sword with highlight shader and visible patch lines.
I really liked the look of a piece by glass artist Rik Allen. I was playing around with the thought of turning it into a table top lamp. Never got that far but I really adore the neo-retro feel and swooping lines. I think it has a lot of character.
"Zills" miniature hand cymbals usually used in dance performances. Modelled this for a friend. It's always good fun to model something that has a semi organic feel to it. They were later printed, then cast in brass. Because of casting I did my best to give it generous draft angles.
Zills visualised in bronze. End result, cast in brass can be seen in Portfolio>Crafts>Metal
I've always loved the look of pipes. Especially the classic Stanwell Rhodesian. It was great curvature practice. Mixing revolves and swooping lines was a bigger challenge than I expected.
"Stanwell Rhodesian" with highlights and visible patches. If you are a surface modeller I highly recommend you give this challenge a go. Very interesting transitions.
concept for a sigil ring. Mixing flats and curves is also great transition practice.
I was quite invested in Martin Molin's MMX project. This accidentally anthropomorphised gear named Winston became a sort of mascot for the project.
I liked the shape of the top from inception. Did my own with a twist.. so sorry about the pun. Turned out pretty mesmerising. maybe even.. hypnotic.. ZzzZz...
